Blackboard Comes Of Age

On the heels of a successful pilot project, the enterprise version of the Blackboard on-line course management system was rolled out to the entire University at the start of academic year 2003/4. Today, every course listed by the Registrar's office is available on Blackboard, meaning that the they are fully populated with the class roster, which gets updated daily based on drops and new registrants, and faculty have the option of utilizing the Blackboard program to add an online learning component to their teaching.

Approximately 33% of courses offered at the University (932 out of 2,864) are utilizing the Blackboard application and interest continues to grow. The technology integration specialists in the Information Technology group, under the direction of Ms. Patricia Kahn, the Training Manager, have been resolute in their efforts to support faculty using this new system and they are constantly developing new and creative ways to utilize it more productively.
