Women's Indoor Track and Field Opens Season at CTC Relay Carnival


New Haven, CT (12/5/10) – The Montclair State women’s indoor track and field team finished ninth overall as the Red Hawks opened their 2010-11 season on Sunday at the Collegiate Track Coaches Relay Carnival at Yale University.

The Red Hawks placed third in the 1,600 Sprint Medley as the quartet of Krystal Ellis (Morristown, NJ / Morristown), Ashley Powell (Orange, NJ / Marylawn of the Oranges), Antonietta Altilio (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) and Michelle McNulty (Bayonne, NJ / Bayonne) registered a time of 4:33.32.

The Red Hawks also had a pair of seventh place finishes.

Shante Anthony (Irvington, NJ / Irvington), Brittany Stradford (Trenton, NJ / Trenton Central), Nicole Presti (Saddle Brook, NJ / Saddle Brook) and Angelina Ollo (Parsippany, NJ / Parsippany) combined on a time of 11:18.32 in the 4x800 meter relay. Presti, Ollo and Stradford then combined with sophomore Heather Gearity (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) to run a time of 14:16.22 in the distance medley relay.

Altilio wrapped up her first collegiate meet by finishing 14th in the 55 meters with a time of 8.17.  Classmate Molly Fitzpatrick (Florence, NJ / Florence) finished 19th in the shot put with a throw of 9.05 meters.

The Red Hawks are back in action on Saturday, December 11 as they head to Princeton, NJ for the Princeton New Year Invite.
