Tancer, Morrison-Bird Shine for Men's Indoor Track at Princeton New Year's Invitational


Princeton, NJ (12/11/10) – Sophomore Jon Tancer (Montville, NJ / Montville) and senior Mario Morrison-Bird (West Orange, NJ / West Orange) finished seventh and eighth, respectively in the shot put to highlight Montclair State’s appearance in the Princeton New Year’s Invitational at Jadwin Gymnasium on Saturday.  

Tancer recorded a best throw of 14.90 meters (48-10.75) while Morrison-Bird went 14.71 meters (48 3.25). Morrison-Bird placed 16th in the weight throw as he registered a mark of 12.01 meters (39-feet, 5-inches). James Luginsland (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) was 19th at 10.67 meters with Nick DiGiacomo (Parsippany, NJ / Parsippany Hills) finishing 23rd.

Sophomore Niyi Adenugba (North Brunswick, NJ / North Brunswick) was eighth in the high jump with a leap of 1.90 meters (6-feet, 2.75-inches). Terea Hargrove (Springfield, NJ / Jonathan Dayton Regional) finished 15th in the long jump at 6.26 meters.

Freshman Alexander Fortoul (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ / Hasbrouck Heights) finished 11th in the mile run.

The Red Hawks are now off until January 14, 2011 when they compete in the Gotham Cup at The Armory in New York City.
