Brown Posts NCAA Men's Indoor Track Qualifying Mark at NYC Gotham Cup


New York, NY (1/15/11) – Senior Will Brown (Gloucester, NJ / Palmyra) posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time finishing fifth in the 60 meter hurdles as the Montclair State men’s indoor track and field team took part in the NYC Gotham Cup at The Armory. 

Brown, competing in his first meet of the season, posted a time of 8.36 during the preliminaries, but lowered that time to 8.34 in the finals to finish in the Top 5. Brown’s time when converted to 55 hurdles was 7.77 which is the provisional mark for the NCAA Championships which will be held on March 11-12 at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio. Brown won the NCAA title in the 55 meters in 2009 and was second last season.

Sophomore Niyi Adenugba (North Brunswick, NJ / North Brunswick) finished seven in the high jump as he leaped 1.91 meters (6-feet, 3.25-inches). Adenugba also ran 9.14 in the 60 meters. Senior Jon Tancer (Montville, NJ / Montville) had the same showing in the shot put with a best throw of 14.22 meters (46-feet, 8-inches).  

Sophomore Terea Hargrove (Springfield, NJ / Jonathan Dayton) went 6.31 meters in the long jump and senior Mario Morrison-Bird (West Orange, NJ / West Orange) was 17th in the weight throw (13.61 meters). 

The Red Hawks return to The Armory on Friday, January 21 to compete in the Great Dane Classic.
