Patterson Tops Women's Indoor Track Performances at DeSchriver Invitational


East Stroudsburg, PA (2/5/11) – Sophomore Ashadaya Patterson (Trenton, NJ / Northern Burlington) posted a pair of Top 3 finishes as the Montclair State women’s indoor track and field team took part in the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University on Saturday.

Patterson posted a time of 8.79 seconds for her third-place finish in the 55 meter hurdles before returning to the track and running a time of 1:01.17 in the 400 meters to finish in second place. It was the first 400 meter race of the season for Patterson, who also ran the anchor leg for the 4x400 relay squad that placed seventh. Patterson, Heather Gearity (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford), Hannah Campbell (Forked River, NJ / Lacey Township) and Ashley Powell (Orange, NJ / Marylawn of the Oranges) registered a time of 1:50.38.

Gearity would place fifth in the high jump at 1.53 meters (5-feet, ¼-inches) and ran 9.41 seconds in the 5 meter hurdles.
Michelle McNulty (Bayonne, NJ / Bayonne) finished ninth in the long jump with a distance of 16-feet, 1.5-inches and was 18th in the 800 meters coming in at 2:33.68. Krystal Ellis (Morristown, NJ / Morristown) was 12th in the high jump at 4-feet, 8.25-inches.

Angelina Ollo (Parsippany, NJ / Parsippany)
competed in her first collegiate mile event and finished 12th as she ran a personal best 5:58.51. She would return to the track 20 minutes later in the 400 meters where she clocked in at 1:06.10. Nicole Presti (Saddle Brook, NJ / Saddle Brook) was also in the mile event coming in at 6:07.24 and clocked in at 3:37.54 in the 1000 meters.  Brittany Stradford (Trenton, NJ / Trenton Central) recorded a time of 6:15.11 in the mile.

Shante Anthony (Irvington, NJ / Irvington)
returned to action following an injury and ran 29.88 in the 200 meters and 1:08.15 for the 400 meters while Powell, who overcame illness earlier in the week, went 7.82 in the 55 meters.  Gearity, Ellis and Campbell each ran solid 800 meter races comfortably in front of the pack. Gearity crossed in a time of 2:38.95 followed by Ellis (2:39.91) and Campbell (2:41.20), who was competing in her first career 800 event.

The Red Hawks return to Pennsylvania for their next meet on Saturday, February 12 as they compete in the CTC Indoor Championships.
