Adenugba, Morrison-Bird Key Men's Indoor Track at CTC Championships


Middletown, CT (2/12/11) – Sophomore Niyi Adenugba (North Brunswick, NJ / North Brunswick) posted three Top 10 finishes, including two in the Top 5 as the Montclair State men’s indoor track and field team placed 11th at the CTC Indoor Championships held at Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Hawks totaled 31.5 points.

Adenugba finished fourth in the high jump with a best leap of 1.78 meters and later added a fourth-place showing in the 55 meter hurdles as he ran 8.27 seconds. Senior Will Brown (Gloucester, NJ / Palmyra) had the best qualifying time in the event at 7.84 seconds, however he did not participate in the finals.

Adenugba also finished seventh in the long jump at 6.23 meters (20-feet, 5.25-inches).

Terea Hargrove (Springfield, NJ / Jonathan Dayton) was fifth in the long jump at 6.35 meters (20-feet, 10-inches) and also placed 14th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.38 seconds.

Senior Mario Morrison-Bird (West Orange, NJ / West Orange) was third in the shot put and sixth in the weight throw. Morrison-Bird posted a mark of 14.90 meters in the shot put and 13.7 meters (45-feet, 1.75 meters) in the weight throw.  Jon Tancer (Montville, NJ / Montville) was fourth in the shot put at 14.68 meters  with Nick DiGiacomo (Parsippnay, NJ /Parsippany Hills) recording 11th place in the weight throw (12.83 meters / 42-feet, 1.25-inches).  

Andrew Flores placed 12th in the pole vault the Red Hawks’ 4x200 relay squad finished seventh with a time of 1:37.42.  

The Red Hawks are back in action on Sunday, February 20 as they compete in the 2011 NJAC Indoor Championships at The Armory in New York City.
