Tacoma, WA (9/10/11) – Ryan Rash scored the Loggers first goal of the season in the 87th minute to lift the Puget Sound men's soccer team over Montclair State on Saturday. The loss was the Red Hawks first of the season as MSU fell to 3-1-1.
The Loggers (1-2) broke the scoring silence when Eneko Bereziartua sent a cross from the far side into the box. Rash put one touch on the ball and lifted it over the goalkeeper's reach and into the back of the net.
Montclair State held a 12-9 advantage on shots but only put one goal, which was saved by Chris McDonald. The Loggers put two shots on goal with Anthony Rogic (Boonton, NJ / Morris Catholic) earning one save as well.
The Red Hawks return to New Jersey, but will stay on the road as they open up NJAC play on Wednesday, September 14 at Rowan University beginning at 7:00 pm. Montclair was tabbed as the preseason favorite in the NJAC Coaches Poll.
