Swimming and Diving Falls in Season Opener at Stevens


Hoboken, NJ (10/15/11) – The Montclair State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams opened their 2011-2012 schedule with a pair of losses at Stevens on Saturday afternoon. The Red Hawks fell 153-88 on the men’s side while the women dropped a 160-94 decision to the Ducks.

Junior Ashley Vallone (Park Ridge, NJ / Park Ridge) posted a pair of second-place finishes. Vallone was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.14 and registered a time of 25.56 in the 50 freestyle. Sophomore Kelsie Donahue (Egg Harbor, NJ / Egg Harbor Township) was third in the 100 back with a time of 1:05.70.

Senior Chris Lee (Morris Plains, NJ / Parsippany Hills) was second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.54. Sophomore Donny Keenan (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) was third clocking in at 1:04.80.

Montclair State is out of competitive action until Friday, November 4 when they host defending NJAC champion The College of New Jersey at the Panzer Athletic Center Pool beginning at 5:00 pm.
