SATURDAY 3/31: Info on Campus Computing Services Maintenance

This Saturday, March 31st, electricians from the University's Facilities Maintenance and Engineering will need to perform preventive maintenance on some electrical circuits in the University Hall IT data center. The work is scheduled from 6:00AM Saturday morning until approximately 5:30PM.

Due to the nature of the work, and to ensure the safety of the personnel involved, some IT computing services will need to be shut down for the duration of the maintenance period. However, in an effort to minimize disruption to the campus community, Information Technology has made arrangements to keep the following services up and available throughout the maintenance period with the exception of brief outages that may occur between 6:00AM and 7:00AM. In addition, a one-hour shutdown of the Blackboard Learning Management services will occur at approximately 6:00AM.

  • Campus email/webmail
  • Campus web server (
  • Blackboard LMS
  • MSUFILES file sharing and MSUPRINT printing services
  • Netdrive file sharing and iPrint printing services
  • Galaxy (HRS, SIS, FRS)

Users should assume that any web, database, or application servers or services not listed above may remain unavailable for the duration of the 6:00AM-5:30PM maintenance period.
Please note that the electrical work will have NO impact on the campus telephone service, the wired/wireless network, or Internet connectivity and users can expect those services to continue uninterrupted.

Please plan your computing resource use accordingly. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as this necessary maintenance work is performed.
