Many of the family and friends of the 1,172 candidates slated to receive master\u2019s or doctoral degrees from the School were in attendance.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Richard A. Volkert \u201984 MA, a research scientist at the New Jersey Geological and Water Survey, was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award and delivered the keynote address.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking were President Susan A. Cole, who offered words of greeting and encouragement, and Graduate School Dean Joan C.
