{"id":14651,"date":"2015-05-29T16:09:14","date_gmt":"2015-05-29T20:09:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/news\/article.php?ArticleID=14651"},"modified":"2015-05-29T16:09:14","modified_gmt":"2015-05-29T20:09:14","slug":"14651_montclair-state-makes-cover-of-hispanic-outlook-magazine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2015\/05\/29\/14651_montclair-state-makes-cover-of-hispanic-outlook-magazine\/","title":{"rendered":"Montclair State Makes Cover of Hispanic Outlook Magazine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Singled out for showing \u201cgreat improvement in granting degrees to and enrolling Hispanic students,\u201d Montclair State University is featured on the cover and in the cover story of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/hispanicoutlook.com\/\">Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine\u2019s<\/a> <\/em>annual \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/hispanicoutlook.com\/the-digital-magazine\/\">Top 100 Colleges for Hispanics<\/a>\u201d issue, which came out on May 18, 2015. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>Each year, <em>Hispanic Outlook<\/em> reviews the previous year\u2019s student enrollment and degree completion statistics to determine which colleges and universities around the nation are training the most Hispanic scholars. Montclair State has been included in the Top 100 for over 15 years and is praised by the publication for continuing to build on its diversity successes. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur high regard for this university dates back to 1997 when our publisher Jos\u00e9 Lopez Isa selected [Montclair State] as one of his Publisher\u2019s Picks,\u201d author Mary Ann Cooper writes in the cover story. \u201cIn 2002 [Montclair State] was a Publisher\u2019s Pick for the 6th consecutive year, labeling [the university] as one of the schools \u2018that we believe enable so many of our Hispanic youth to succeed.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The University has been steadily climbing within the Top 100. In 2013, Montclair State was ranked No. 85 in the nation for the total number of bachelor\u2019s degrees granted to Hispanic students.
