{"id":210460,"date":"2019-11-06T16:39:28","date_gmt":"2019-11-06T21:39:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/?p=210460"},"modified":"2019-11-07T08:51:52","modified_gmt":"2019-11-07T13:51:52","slug":"montclair-state-wins-two-major-federal-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2019\/11\/06\/montclair-state-wins-two-major-federal-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"Montclair State Wins Two Major Federal Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Montclair State University has been awarded two major federal grants: a $165,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2019\/11\/06\/montclair-state-university-awarded-nasa-minority-research-and-education-project-fellowship\/?wp_logged_in=true\">National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Minority University Research and Education Project fellowship<\/a>, and a $2.2-plus million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2019\/11\/06\/montclair-state-university-receives-2-2-million-u-s-department-of-education-grant\/?wp_logged_in=true\">U.S. Department of Education \u201cStrengthening Institutions\u201d grant <\/a>to help the University better serve low-income students. The grants were announced in a November 6 public assembly attended by grant recipients, students, academic leadership and honored guest Secretary of Higher Education for the State of New Jersey Zakiya Smith Ellis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn order to ensure that our future is brighter than our past, we must provide funding to those institutions that are doing the best job in helping our diverse population,\u201d said Secretary Smith Ellis. \u201cMontclair State University is doing the work that will move the state, and indeed, the nation forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMontclair State University proudly embraces its commitment as a New Jersey <em>public<\/em> research university to provide a first-class education to ambitious and hard-working students who in every sense fully reflect the society that we serve,\u201d said University President Susan A.
