{"id":213247,"date":"2020-11-17T16:11:14","date_gmt":"2020-11-17T21:11:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/?p=213247"},"modified":"2021-01-19T15:30:53","modified_gmt":"2021-01-19T20:30:53","slug":"montclair-state-launches-online-certificate-in-k-12-computer-science-teaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2020\/11\/17\/montclair-state-launches-online-certificate-in-k-12-computer-science-teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Montclair State Launches Online Certificate in K-12 Computer Science Teaching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The College of Education and Human Services at Montclair State University will launch an online graduate certificate program in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/online\/graduate-certificates\/k-12-computer-science-teaching-certificate-online\/\">K-12 Computer Science Teaching<\/a> for the upcoming spring 2021 semester.<\/p>\n<p>The online offering continues Montclair State\u2019s commitment to responding to New Jersey\u2019s educational needs and providing educators with immediately actionable knowledge, skills and strategies to enhance instruction and affect student learning.<\/p>\n<p>Designed for equity-oriented teachers seeking to meet demand for high-quality computer science (CS) education, the 15-credit, five-course program will offer coursework in computer science content including coding, programming, problem-solving through computational thinking (CT), equity and diversity in computer science fields, and research-based methods of teaching computer science.<\/p>\n<p>The program has been developed as a response to <a href=\"https:\/\/nj.gov\/governor\/news\/news\/562018\/approved\/20181003a.shtml\">New Jersey\u2019s \u201cComputer Science for All\u201d initiative to advance K-12 STEM Education<\/a>.
