{"id":216822,"date":"2021-12-14T15:00:04","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T20:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/?p=216822"},"modified":"2021-12-14T15:52:03","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T20:52:03","slug":"maria-rodriguez-gregg-named-director-of-government-relations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2021\/12\/14\/maria-rodriguez-gregg-named-director-of-government-relations\/","title":{"rendered":"Maria Rodriguez-Gregg Named Director of Government Relations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Montclair State University has appointed Maria Rodriguez-Gregg to the position of Director of Government Relations and Community Affairs, effective December 6, 2021.<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-row\"><div class=\"prpl-column one-third\">\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2021\/12\/Maria-Rodriguez-Gregg.jpeg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2021\/12\/Maria-Rodriguez-Gregg.jpeg.0.1x.generic.jpg\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Maria Rodriguez-Gregg<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div> <div class=\"prpl-column two-thirds\"><br \/>\nA community advocate, business leader and former New Jersey Assemblywoman, she will provide strategic direction and leadership on behalf of the University in promoting relations within state and federal government. Rodriguez-Gregg will act as Montclair\u2019s liaison and primary point of contact with elected and appointed officials and staff, and seek opportunities to collaborate with government agencies and external organizations to advance the institution\u2019s capabilities. <\/div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI am excited to welcome Maria to Montclair State University and for her to assume this critical role,\u201d says President Jonathan Koppell. \u201cHer leadership and advocacy will help us to become an even greater solutions engine for New Jersey, and to create and cultivate relationships that will further serve the public good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, Rodriguez-Gregg was the first Latina Republican elected to the New Jersey General Assembly. A graduate of Rutgers University-Camden with a degree in Economics, she has served in various roles for several nonprofit organizations, currently as Vice President of Operations and board member for Safe Way Out Foundation, and previously with the &#8220;She Should Run&#8221; campaign, the Civil Air Patrol, the National Foundation of Women Legislators and the American Council of Young Political Leaders.<\/p>\n<p>She also served on the Board of Trustees at Burlington County College, and on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity. She has also received numerous awards for her community work including the Champion of Change award for Domestic Violence Awareness by the Hispanic Leadership Association and recognized as influential in the LGBTQ community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am truly passionate about Montclair State University\u2018s mission,\u201d says Rodriguez-Gregg. \u201cI look forward to serving shoulder-to-shoulder with the alumni, faculty, administration and our fantastic students.
