{"id":216871,"date":"2021-12-14T16:24:25","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T21:24:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/?p=216871"},"modified":"2021-12-17T10:15:18","modified_gmt":"2021-12-17T15:15:18","slug":"teacher-programs-nationally-recognized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2021\/12\/14\/teacher-programs-nationally-recognized\/","title":{"rendered":"Teacher Programs Nationally Recognized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) has announced that Montclair State University is one of 39 providers from 16 states and Puerto Rico to receive new accreditation for its educator preparation programs.<\/p>\n<p>CAEP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Educator preparation providers (EPPs) seeking accreditation must pass peer review of the CAEP standards, which are based on two principles: solid evidence that the provider\u2019s graduates are competent and caring educators, and solid evidence that the provider\u2019s educator staff have the capacity to create a culture of evidence and use it to maintain and enhance the quality of the professional programs they offer.<\/p>\n<p>Montclair is committed to serving the educational needs of New Jersey with 20 initial teacher certification areas and eight advanced programs for educators characterized by academic rigor and currency in the development of knowledge and its applications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur students, faculty, staff and school partners should be very proud of the work they are doing. We have set a high bar for our teacher preparation programs and CAEP Accreditation validates the hard work we are doing,\u201d said Katrina Bulkley, interim dean for the College of Education and Human Services at Montclair. \u201cOur students and their families are investing in an education program that is designated as nationally accredited for teacher preparation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fall 2021 review by the CAEP<a href=\"http:\/\/caepnet.org\/accreditation\/caep-accreditation\/accreditation-council\"> Accreditation Council<\/a> resulted in 39 newly accredited EPPs, bringing the total to 462 providers approved under the CAEP<a href=\"http:\/\/www.caepnet.org\/standards\/2022-itp\/introduction\"> Accreditation Standards<\/a> \u2013 rigorous, nationally recognized standards that were developed to ensure excellence in educator preparation programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese institutions meet high standards so that their students receive an education that prepares them to succeed in a diverse range of classrooms after they graduate,\u201d said CAEP President Christopher A.
