The School of Communication and Media (SCM) at Montclair State University announced today the launch of Hawk+ (<\/span>www.hawkplus.tv<\/span><\/a>), a free digital streaming platform that curates the best video content from across the School.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The digital network provides SCM with the unique opportunity to aggregate content that is normally found across the <\/span>SCM website<\/span><\/a>, its social channels and student-focused media organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hawk+ will engage students, faculty, staff, alumni, and prospective students and their families. It will feature live and pre-recorded content from the School\u2019s radio and TV stations, sporting events, musical and theater performances, student films, faculty projects, special events from across the University, and many other forms of educational content and programming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an exciting, groundbreaking platform that will give our current and future students additional opportunities to be thoroughly prepared for careers in digital media, content creation and production, and data analytics,\u201d said SCM Director Keith Strudler. \u201cWe are thrilled that our development partner at <\/span>Streamstak<\/span><\/a> has created a unifying platform that will allow us to share many types of content in one place.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cColleges and universities create some of the most compelling content available,\u201d said Brendan Canning, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Triple-B Media, Streamstak\u2019s parent company. \u201cWe are thrilled to partner with Montclair to launch a unified video platform that will enhance the University\u2019s digital reach and storytelling ability.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis new platform is a model that other universities can use, and it solves an inherent problem that most schools face of how to organize and present their content to various audiences and stakeholders,\u201d Canning said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hawk+ is currently live as a web-based platform, and will be a fully connected experience and available for free via mobile and connected TV apps later this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the addition of Hawk+, SCM has unprecedented, hands-on learning opportunities for its students that are second to none. In addition to <\/span>The Montclarion<\/span><\/i><\/a>, a student-run newspaper in existence for more than 100 years, students can learn and hone their crafts at SCM\u2019s radio station (<\/span>WMSC<\/span><\/a>), newsroom (<\/span>Montclair News Lab<\/span><\/a>), sports network (<\/span>Red Hawk Sports Network<\/span><\/a>) and strategic communications agency (<\/span>Hawk Communications<\/span><\/a>). <\/span><\/p>\n
