Innovation<\/a> on Wednesday, October 19  for Women Entrepreneurship Week \u2013 a global celebration that began at Montclair State University nine years ago to recognize women business founders.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured numerous business founders, from money managers and career coaches to publishers and authors, including  <a href=\"https:\/\/thebudgetnista.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Tiffany &#8220;The Budgetnista&#8221; Aliche<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ashleykstoyanovojeda.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Ashley Stoyanov Ojeda<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/arielleloren.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Arielle Loren<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/joan-zief-563a05b\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Joan Zief<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/petiamorozov\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Petia Morozov<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newjerseycommunitycapital.org\/about-us\/team\/leah-apgar\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Leah Apgar<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/biancawood\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Bianca Benedetti-Fang<\/a> and Montclair student entrepreneur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/stevanie-rhim-475441151\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Stevanie Rhim<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past nine years, we&#8217;ve been truly committed to not only supporting student entrepreneurs here on campus but also entrepreneurs in our communities,\u201d Liz Rich, director of the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship &amp; Innovation, told the gathering at the School of Communication and Media\u2019s Presentation Hall.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2022\/10\/101922_0513_Womens_Entrepreneurship_Week-LAROSA.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2022\/10\/101922_0513_Womens_Entrepreneurship_Week-LAROSA.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"Mimi Feliciano seated in auditorium\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mimi Feliciano, Benefactor and Board Member of the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship, applauds speakers after kicking off the event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While addressing the enthusiastic audience, President Jonathan Koppell said the pandemic highlighted the importance of having women leaders, recognizing that many institutions that thrived were led by women, noting that \u201cwomen entrepreneurs and women leaders have been pivoting and multitasking for many decades longer than their male contemporaries.\u201d He also lauded the event and the University\u2019s long-standing support of women founders and leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a great opportunity to embrace this aspect of the work of the University and its support for women entrepreneurs, to really specify what those advantages are, and to figure out what we can do as a university to be more supportive of women entrepreneurs,\u201d Koppell said. \u201cSo we&#8217;re very excited to have this program, and that we have a center for entrepreneurship that is doing really great, really powerful, important work as part of the Feliciano School of Business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event included a  panel discussion between several business experts and founders to provide advice on planning exit and pivoting strategies as well as ways to develop creative funding alternatives.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2022\/10\/101922_0706_Womens_Entrepreneurship_Week-LAROSA.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2022\/10\/101922_0706_Womens_Entrepreneurship_Week-LAROSA.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"panelists sit on stage with their names on a screen behind\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ozzie Lourenco, a consultant with SBDC New Jersey, introduces entrepreneurs Arielle Loren, Petia Morozov, Christina Fuentes, Joan Zief, Leah Apgar and Bianca Benedetti-Fang.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Montclair State alumna Tiffany &#8220;The Budgetnista&#8221; Aliche \u201902, a successful author and personal finance educator who was recently featured in a new Netflix documentary, Get Smart with Money urged students and would-be entrepreneurs to go for what they want and not limit themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe message that I want to share with everyone today is to not be afraid to pivot outside of the norm and that there are lessons learned from every aspect of your life that you will find and collect to create the life you want if you have the courage,\u201d Aliche said. \u201cWhat I hope students get out of it is that they have way more potential they don&#8217;t even realize and it doesn&#8217;t matter how humble your beginnings are, the sky truly is the limit.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2022\/10\/101922_0188_Womens_Entrepreneurship_Week-LAROSA.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2022\/10\/101922_0188_Womens_Entrepreneurship_Week-LAROSA.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"Tiffany Aliche on stage\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Montclair State alumna Tiffany &#8220;The Budgetnista&#8221; Aliche \u201902 shares her wealth of experience.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Arielle Touaboy, a senior studying Business Administration, is a creative and aspiring entrepreneur who wants to open up her own digital marketing agency someday. She attended the event for the purpose of staying involved with the Entrepreneurship Center and networking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really cool to hear how small businesses get funded and see other women who look just like me succeed,\u201d Touaboy said. \u201cI hope to learn more about creativity and what it means to be creative and passionate about something.
