Chun to the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective May 1, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In the role, he will be responsible for the management, planning and program development of information technologies across all operating divisions, and will oversee all facets of the University\u2019s Division of Information Technology and its personnel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDavid is a leader with extensive experience as a Chief Information Officer, and is someone who has previously led the initiatives we are implementing here at Montclair State University,\u201d says Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President Ben Durant. \u201cHis commitment to student success and to serving the public good, and his keen knowledge of the higher education landscape make him the ideal fit to lead the institution in this area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chun brings decades of experience as an executive in higher education to Montclair, as well as an extensive career in the private sector overseeing information technology for Fortune 500 corporations including FIS Global. Most recently, he has served as the Chief Information Officer and Associate Vice President at Sonoma State University.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to his tenure at Sonoma State, Chun served as the first Chief Information Officer and Associate Vice President at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and held several roles, including Assistant Dean, at the University of Miami\u2019s Herbert Business School.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to leading digital transformations overseeing all aspects of information technology at each institution, he has also served as a professor and mentor to students, guiding them to positions at organizations including Apple, Cisco, Disney, Facebook, FedEx and Microsoft, and helping several to become successful entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n<p>Chun holds a bachelor\u2019s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is pursuing his advanced degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored to join the Montclair State University community, where technology fuels educational excellence, research and social mobility,\u201d says Chun. \u201cMy wife, Wendy, and I share many of Montclair&#8217;s core values of serving the public interest and advancing student success. We are very pleased to return to the tri-state area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Montclair State University\u2019s Division of Information Technology is responsible for all enterprise information technologies across the institution\u2019s 252-acre campus.
