It starts with a single idea, a single story \u2013 a single domino.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s why they\u2019re bringing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tedxmontclair.com\/\">TEDx Montclair: The Domino Effect<\/a> to life on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Montclair Mezzanine, an event space on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s about the small things that lead to something bigger,\u201d says Rodriguez. \u201cEverything that happens in our lives, good or bad, can come from a small action.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The TEDx Montclair event will bring together thought leaders, creatives and changemakers to explore how small actions can spark powerful, lasting change \u2013 in individuals, families and entire communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>A Domino Starts It All<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rodriguez and Pierre Louis are applying what they\u2019ve learned at Montclair\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/business\/\">Feliciano School of Business<\/a> to elevate the voices and ideas. Their vision for The Domino Effect is grounded in lived experience and a shared commitment to making opportunity more accessible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Both Rodriguez and Pierre Louis earned their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/business\/academic-programs\/#bachelors\">bachelor\u2019s degrees in Business Administration<\/a> from Montclair in 2024 and are on track to complete their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/business\/academic-programs\/mba\/\">accelerated MBAs<\/a> in August. (Photo courtesy of Nev Trinajstic, Nev Photography)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><strong>Final Touches<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rooted in the belief that social mobility is a shared responsibility, TEDx Montclair invites audiences to consider new perspectives on progress \u2013 and who has the power to shape it, Rodriguez and Pierre Louis say. The event will feature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tedxmontclair.com\/2025-speakers\">speakers sharing personal stories, ideas and solutions<\/a> that challenge the status quo and encourage action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two of the featured speakers have strong Montclair ties:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DI1zeLCxswR\/?igsh=MTUzNzZhNWZoYWFvNg%3D%3D\">Chris W. Fitzpatrick<\/a> \u201904 will explore mentorship as a catalyst for transformation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DIzGINZRMlP\/?igsh=cmUzZnhyZzFwYTMz\">Anjali Badrinath<\/a> \u201924 PhD will speak about empathy as a tool for collective change<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The conference is volunteer-driven, with Montclair students leading efforts in merchandise, media, design and logistics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPlanning TEDx is like running a business,\u201d says Pierre Louis. \u201cI\u2019m using both what I\u2019ve learned in class and what I\u2019ve done in previous jobs.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While TEDx Montclair is independently organized under license from TED, the values woven into it reflect Montclair State University\u2019s mission to broaden access and opportunity. \u201cAlthough this is non-affiliated to the University itself, we cannot discredit the fact that this<a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2024\/09\/24\/2025-college-rankings-montclair-continues-to-rise-in-u-s-news-world-report-best-colleges\/\"> ideology of social mobility<\/a> is something Montclair emphasizes,\u201d says Rodriguez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIn many ways, the University influenced us as people,\u201d she adds. \u201cIt\u2019s shed light on what this word \u2013 social mobility \u2013 really means.
