{"id":227896,"date":"2026-05-08T16:00:59","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T20:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/?p=227896"},"modified":"2026-05-08T14:02:26","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T18:02:26","slug":"montclair-state-university-launches-doctor-of-school-psychology-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/newscenter\/2026\/05\/08\/montclair-state-university-launches-doctor-of-school-psychology-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Montclair State University Launches Doctor of School Psychology Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Montclair State University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/ceel\/\">College for Education and Engaged Learning<\/a> (CEEL) has launched a new Doctor of School Psychology (PsyD) program, with applications now open for the Fall 2026 semester.<\/p>\n<p>The program will prepare professionals to support the academic, behavioral and emotional success of children and adolescents in school settings. Designed for individuals committed to improving student outcomes, the program combines doctoral-level coursework, supervised field experiences, and applied training to give graduates the skills needed to lead and deliver services across educational and child-focused environments.<\/p>\n<p>Montclair has designed the hybrid PsyD program for early-career and experienced professionals. The program will offer multiple tracks to earn a degree, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A three-year advanced standing track for certified school psychologists seeking to complete their doctoral degree<\/li>\n<li>A five-year pathway for students entering with a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology or a closely related field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students in both tracks will meet the coursework requirements for licensure as a psychologist in New Jersey. Students in the five-year pathway will also meet requirements for New Jersey Department of Education School Psychologist Certification and earn a graduate certificate in Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).<\/p>\n<p>The program joins 10 doctoral-level programs at Montclair, including the Teacher Education Teacher Development Ph.D. program in CEEL. Montclair offers approximately 116 graduate degree and certificate programs in hybrid, fully online, and in-person formats across its colleges and schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe College for Education and Engaged Learning is excited to announce the launching of this doctoral-level program,\u201d says Dean Vincent C. Alfonso. \u201cThis much-needed program will educate graduate students to serve children, youth and families at a time that is especially critical.
