A critically acclaimed cultural historian, literary critic and biographer, Theatre and Dance Department Professor Dr. Neil Baldwin is the Founding Director of Montclair State University’s Creative Research Center.
Dr. Baldwin is the author of many works of nonfiction, including To All Gentleness: William Carlos Williams, The Doctor-Poet, the definitive biography of the New Jersey poet; and Man Ray: American Artist. He is currently under contract with Alfred A. Knopf Publishers to write Martha Graham: When Dance Became Modern.
In 2010, Dr. Baldwin established the “Danceaturgy” program, a writing discipline that applies the precepts of dramaturgy to a critical assessment of dance works and a better understanding of the creative process itself.
