What does equitable CS mean? Look like? Feel like?<\/p>\n<p>This event presents the students&#8217; point of view about equity in computer science education. It&#8217;s an opportunity to learn from students in the field as they share their stories of challenges, accomplishments, and vision for the future of CS in schools and society.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Hear how five high school and undergraduate students interpret equity in computer science education.<\/li>\n<li>Learn how to encourage and support Black and Latinx students to pursue CS as a major.<\/li>\n<li>Identify ways that school professionals and administrators can create a more equitable CS education program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Invited speakers:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Miriella Gonzalez-Ullon<\/strong>, junior at Montclair State University majoring in Information Technology with double majors in Psychology and Computer Science<\/li>\n<li><strong>Melissa Jara,<\/strong> sophomore at Bergen Community College; majoring in engineering science<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amyah Maze,<\/strong> sophomore and is currently home-schooled; she has an interest in coding and entrepreneurship<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jayson Meribe<\/strong>, junior at Roxbury High School and is interested in computer science and robotics<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dequane Nealy<\/strong>, freshman at Howard University, majoring in electrical engineering with a minor in computer science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tune in on <strong>Thursday<\/strong><strong>, February 25 at 6 p.m. EST.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/teaching-and-learning-forum-computer-science-and-equity-tickets-138321392007\">REGISTER NOW<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>This webinar qualifies for one hour of professional learning for educators and teachers.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Sponsored by the Department of Teaching and Learning and Department of Computer Science<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tune in on Thursday, February 25 from 6-7 p.m. to hear students&#8217; point of view about equity in computer science education.
