Fall 2023 Orientation Experience
Orientation is designed to help new students connect, learn, and engage with the Montclair State University community. More information about the Orientation Experience will be shared in the coming months. We are excited to share the new details with you soon!
Here’s a preview of what you can expect:
Save the Dates!
- Access the Orientation Experience Portal
- Access through your NEST account, using your Montclair NetID and password.
- Register for required and optional Orientation programs.
- Track your progress on the Orientation Experience Task List.
- New to the NEST (Canvas Course)
- Available in May 2023.
- Learn all there is to know about becoming a new Red Hawk! This Orientation Canvas course will introduce you to helpful offices like the Dean of Students and Red Hawk Central.
- Log on to Canvas. The course is labeled: “New to the NEST Summer Orientation 2023.”
- ORIENTATION+ (New Student Webinars)
- Available June through July 2023.
- Meet the administrators in your College or School, Red Hawk Central, and the Student Development & Campus Life who will present an overview of new student requirements and resources to jump-start your semester at Montclair State University.
- Summer Welcome!
- Join us for Red Hawk Paradise, our summer barbeque and welcome event for all new students and families. Held during July 2023.
- Dates will be shared mid-April.
- Welcome Week
- Held during August 17-25, 2023.
- Participate in a variety of campus traditions and meet other students!
- Engage with clubs, organizations and various departments.

- Check out our New Student News newsletter sent bi-weekly to your Montclair State email!
- Red Hawks check their University email accounts! Now that you are new Red Hawk, remember to check your Montclair State University email address instead of your personal email address for important updates.
