August 2023 Experiences

Adult Learners Connection

During the Adult Learner Connection, students will have the opportunity to meet other students aged 25 or older and learn about the support services that are available to them. You will be provided with tips to assist in your transition to Montclair State University and how to be successful during your time at the University.

In addition to a general overview of the resources available to support adult learners, this session will include a breakout session for degree completion students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies to learn the specifics of their program.

Commuter Assistance Mentor Program (CAMP) Connection

This meet up is exclusively for the participants in the Commuter Assistance Mentorship Program who have applied for a commuter mentor. You will spend the day meeting your mentor and other mentees while having a great time through competitive games, social team builders and exploring the campus.

Don’t DIS My Abilities: Succeeding in College as a Student with a Disability

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) will provide students an opportunity to meet peers supported by DRC services and learn strategies for success from these students. We also share “5 Things to Know Right Now” as a way to identify the main information you need to know to assist with the transition to Montclair State and summarize vital information needed at the beginning of the semester.

#FirstGen Block Party

Kick off your semester at our first ever #FirstGen Block Party. Meet and greet other First-Generation students, faculty and staff. This pre-orientation experience will help you become more comfortable with this exciting phase of your life!

International Student Connection

The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) is the university’s primary resource of services to all  incoming and current F-1 and J-1 students.  A student’s affiliation with OGE  begins with the recruitment/admission process and continues well beyond graduation. OGE staff can advise international students on immigration, cultural, financial, academic and personal concerns and make appropriate referrals when necessary.

This program is open to international students.

A Montclair State of Mind(fulness)

This pre-orientation experience will be a hands-on learning opportunity on mindfulness and how it can help you be successful at school. The program will review different meditations throughout the experience and discuss ways to proactively prepare your mental health for the transition to college. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes as we will be enjoying a mindful walk through campus.

Veteran & Military Student Connection

During the Veteran and Military Student Connection, new veteran/military students will be able to interact and connect with other incoming students starting in Fall 2022. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about the education benefits, speak with current veteran/military students at Montclair and hear more about the Veteran/Military Student Resources Office.

This program is open to veterans and current military service members.

Volunteer Service Project

Join us for an on-campus service project and connect with the Volunteer Center! You will learn about future opportunities to volunteer with Montclair State University, all before your Fall Orientation. You are sure to expect a growing desire to help those in need after fulfilling this service program.
