Cecilia Durbin is the Assistant Professor of Lighting Design, Theatre and Dance Department. She teaches classes in Lighting Design to students in all 4 years and serves as the mentor for all students interested in Lighting Design and Electrics in Production and Design. Ms. Durbin earned her MFA from Tisch School of the Arts, NYU in Lighting Design in 2013. Since then, she has been working as a professional lighting designer both in New York and around the country, designing new and classic plays, musicals, and dance. She is particularly interested in the roll of the designer in the development of new works. She has designed at Actors Theatre of Louisville, Playmakers Repertory Company, Triad Stage, Portland Stage Company, Detroit Public Theatre, Chautauqua Theater Company, The Hangar Theatre, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, On The Boards, InterACT Theatre Productions, La Mama Experimental Theatre Club, New York City Children’s Theater, The Bushwick Starr, JACK, Epic Theatre Ensemble, The Incubator Arts Project and many others.
