Profile

Alan L. Pehrson is an assistant professor in the Psychology Department and directs the Applied Neuropharmacology Laboratory here at Montclair State University. Dr. Pehrson received a PhD in Biological Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, and completed postdoctoral fellowships with the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh and at Lundbeck, an industrial neuroscience firm. Dr. Pehrson's research focuses on identifying and understanding biological mechanisms that can be used to improve symptoms associated with psychiatric disease, especially cognitive dysfunction and changes in mood. Dr. Pehrson is an author on 48 peer-reviewed articles in a variety of neuroscience and pharmacology journals, and was a key player in the development of the antidepressant vortioxetine (Trintellix).
