In other words, <strong>doing the right things<\/strong> (efforts and investments that promote the University&#8217;s objectives) <strong>in the<\/strong> <strong>right way<\/strong> (thorough planning and excellence in execution).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The focus is threefold:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">Managing the portfolio such that the investments we make in time, effort and money are aligned and prioritized with organizational goals.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Effectively planning projects such that the outcomes, resource requirements technology changes, risks and budgetary requirements are clear and improve project success rates.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Delivering projects with the desired outcomes, within the planned budget and on time as planned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"red\"><p>Doing the right things in the right way.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Program Management Office\u00a0<strong>mission<\/strong> is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">Establish a standardized and repeatable process to understand the University&#8217;s strategic objectives and how technology can be used\u00a0to help meet those objectives<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Create a portfolio view of all investments in IT\u00a0including priorities and dependencies<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Establish the process of defining the\u00a0projects that provide the greatest value to the\u00a0University in order\u00a0to establish the priority for investments in IT projects<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Eliminate duplicate projects and redundant initiatives<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Define project scope in order\u00a0to provide the maximum benefit to the University<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Define the methodology that allows for the implementation of best practices across the organization<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Establish an inventory\u00a0of\u00a0artifacts and\u00a0strategic plans to maximize business utility<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">\u00a0Maximize the utility of existing resources (project and technical resources are shared across the University)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"red\"><p>The organizations that can out-execute other organizations are the ones that succeed. <\/p>\n<footer><cite>&#8211; Gartner<\/cite><\/footer>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Program Management Office (PMO) is charged with applying repeatable, consistent and proven project and portfolio management frameworks to ensure due diligence in project planning, selection and execution in order to help Montclair State university achieve its mission and strategic objectives.
