Her research is titled &#8220;Effects of Aspect and Telicity on Sentence Comprehension in Young Adults.&#8221; David Townsend, professor in the Department of Psychology, served as her advisor.<\/p>\n<p>Indarjit, a Psychology major, is also pursuing minors in both Women&#8217;s and Gender Studies and Russian.<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-row\"><div class=\"prpl-column two-thirds\"><br \/>\nIn the fall of 2016, Indarjit presented at two other conferences. She received a prize for outstanding presentation the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) in Tampa, Florida (picture adjacent). Then at the Emory University-Laney Graduate School STEM Research and Career Symposium she received a certificate for second place in the poster presentations.<\/div><div class=\"prpl-column one-third\">\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/psychology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/84\/2017\/12\/15369989_1378310192188553_660272532972338274_o.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/psychology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/84\/2017\/12\/15369989_1378310192188553_660272532972338274_o.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"Indarjit (lower right) at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) in Tampa, Florida.\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Indarjit has worked in research labs at Montclair State, including those of Laura Lakusta and David Townsend. She also spent the summer at Ohio State University as part of a research program at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cosi.org\/\">Center of Science and Industry<\/a> with Laura Wagner, associate professor of psychology. For the summer of 2017, Indarjit has an internship with the <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/cogdev.psych.ubc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Centre for Cognitive Development<\/a> at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>In future, Indarjit plans to her cognitive and developmental psychology research at the graduate level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Michelle Indarjit, Class of 2017, for receiving the Outstanding Poster Award at the Student Research Symposium on April 28, 2017.
