Housing for First-Year and Transfer Students

Housing for first-year and transfer students enrolling for the Fall semester is guaranteed for those who meet the below criteria (space permitting):

  • Have been fully accepted to the University
  • Submit all enrollment confirmation forms and fees by the semester deadline
  • Submit a $300.00 nonrefundable housing application fee by the semester deadline
  • Complete the online housing agreement no later than the semester deadline

All items are required in order for your housing application to be considered complete. For specific information on enrollment fees please see Accepted Students. Please note that our housing process is done completely online and there is no paper application to complete or submit.

For those who do not meet the above criteria, including students who may be accepted to the University after these dates, housing is not guaranteed. Every effort will be made to accommodate students in this category as space becomes available.

How Do I Apply?

  • Pay the $300.00 Housing Application Fee online through NEST or in person at the Office of Student Accounts. Payment info can be found on the Red Hawk Central website. The housing application fee is due by June 1st, 2020.
  • Please wait 3-5 business days after you pay your application fee for an online application to become available. Students are notified via their Montclair Email once available as well.
  • Enter the Residential Management System (RMS) to complete online housing agreement, lifestyle preferences, and room type preferences. Once complete, your application will be pending and you will be placed into an available housing assignment by our staff. Once assigned, you will be notified via your Montclair Email account.
  • Students requesting housing accommodations due to a medical condition, in addition to completing the RMS preferences must submit a Request for Medical Accommodations by the semester deadline here.

Spring semester housing is subject to availability. For any student seeking spring housing, we do anticipate bed spaces to be available to meet demand. We will communicate to all students about the availability and process to secure housing in late October. Our goal is to house every applicant.

Graduate Students

Campus housing is available for graduate students, too!

To apply for housing you must:

  • Have been fully accepted to the University or currently enrolled
  • Submit all enrollment confirmation forms and fees by June 1st for new incoming graduate students
  • Submit a $300.00 nonrefundable housing application fee
  • Complete the online housing application

All items are required in order for your housing application to be considered complete. Please note that our housing process is done completely online and there is no paper application to complete or submit; a student must go online and complete the process as noted above. For those who do not meet the above criteria, including students who may be accepted to the University after these dates, housing is not guaranteed. Every effort will be made to accommodate students in this category as space becomes available.

A $300.00 housing application fee, along with all enrollment fees and enrollment confirmation form, included in your admissions letter, must be received and processed for you to then complete the online RMS housing application. If you are a returning resident, please see Returning Students.

Graduate Students requesting housing accommodations due to a medical condition, in addition to completing the RMS preferences must submit a Request for Medical Accommodations by certain dates communicated by the Disability Resource Center.
