The Sports PR Summit (@SportsPRSummit), an invite-only event that brings together senior PR and digital media executives, sports reporters, and professional athletes for dynamic panels and conversations, announces that the Montclair State University School of Communication and Media (@MonclairSCM) will be its official academic partner.

Through this partnership, the School will provide logistical and strategic support for the Sports PR Summit both during the annual event as well as throughout the year. This will include event execution, planning, and assistance with various communication tasks. Students will also help to grow the Summit’s content creation through various channels, continuing the Summit’s established reputation as a national thought leader in the industry.

“We are excited to have the Montclair State University School of Communications and Media on board as our official academic partner of the Sports PR Summit,” said Brian Berger, founder and CEO of the Sports PR Summit. “Their program hits with the core of our event topics – communications and media – so they are a perfect fit. Keith and Kelly are leaders in this space as well so we are fortunate to be partnering with them.”

Keith Strudler, director of the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State, is honored by this unique affiliation. “The Sports PR Summit is a special and singularly outstanding event,” said Strudler. “In growing a national class School of Communication and Media, it is a wonderful privilege to partner with the nation’s premier event for c-suite sports PR professionals.”

Kelly Whiteside, assistant professor of sports media and journalism at Montclair State and a veteran national sports columnist, knows her students are more than up for the task. “As our School has established an innovative curriculum in sports communication, our students develop strong professional skills and a keen understanding of sports media and information,” noted Whiteside. “I’m excited they will have the unparalleled opportunity to assist and work with those at the peak of the sports industry.”

This spring marks the sixth Sports PR Summit, to be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the Players’ Tribune (@PlayersTribune) in New York City.
