Montclair State University senior Sabrina Araullo has been selected by the New Jersey Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America as the 2018 recipient of the PRSA NJ Future Public Relations Professional of the Year Award.  The award, which recognizes a graduating senior’s sophisticated understanding of and commitment to the public relations profession, will be presented to Araullo at the Basking Ridge Country Club on Wednesday, June 13. This is the third year in a row in which a Montclair State University student has been named the Future PR Pro Award winner.

Araullo, who will be receiving her degree in Public Relations from the university’s School of Communication and Media this May, is well deserving of the honor.  A member of the university’s Public Relations Student Society of America chapter since her sophomore year, Araullo served as the organization’s president during her senior year.  When the School announced in February of this year the creation of the university’s first-ever student run PR firm, Hawk Communication, Araullo was appointed its co-director.  In addition to her extra-curricular work within the PR program, she served as the publicist for the school’s inaugural student run newscast, Montclair News Lab.  Araullo also took full advantage of internship opportunities, completing four of them, most notable were with MSNBC and New York based Hiltzik Strategies.  She also created a public relations strategic plan for the Montclair Art Museum and has worked with the New Jersey Advertising Club.

The previous Montclair State University School of Communication Future PR Pro winners were Jessica Bacher in 2016, now an admissions recruiter for Montclair State University, and Cynthia Huasipoma in 2017, who is now employed as an associate with Weber Shandwick.
