WMSC Awards

The Montclair State University radio station, WMSC announced this week it has been nominated for seven Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards, including one in the top category, “Best College Station in the Nation.” The nominations came on the heels of the station’s “Spirit of College Radio Award” win, which the station received for its 30-hour marathon programming in celebration of College Radio Day.

“I am delighted that Montclair State students who work at the campus radio station are being recognized nationally for their work,” said WMSC General Manager Anabella Poland. “This past year we’ve focused on innovative programming, collaborative news coverage, and out-of-the-box social media campaigns. Students have the freedom to discover, explore and create at WMSC, and they receive real-time professional feedback.”

The School of Communication and Media also earned video nominations for two of the year’s biggest projects. The students who traveled to Puerto Rico to report on the ongoing hurricane recovery efforts received a nomination for “Best News Feature Story,” and student Jeffrey Ramella received a “Best Use of Graphics” nomination for the Election Night 2018 broadcast.

Additional nominations for other categories will be announced by mid-January. The ceremony will be held at the Pennsylvania Hotel in New York City on March 2.
