On March 26, 2021, Montclair State University’s School of Communication and Media held its first Virtual Career Day. The event was held entirely on Zoom, making it possible for all students, prospective students, and alumni to join and participate.

Attendees learned from industry professionals how to prepare for the next steps in their career path, search and apply to jobs and ace interviews.

The event was hosted by Dr. Keith Strudler, Director of the School of Communication and Media. It featured several guest panelists and speakers, including Montclair State alumnus Al Prieto, VP of ABC News; Colonel Jack Jacobs, a military analyst for NBC News and MSNBC;
Karen Horne, SVP of Enterprise Inclusion at Warner Media; and Sharese Bullock-Bailey, Chief Strategy and Partnerships Officer of Ghetto Film School.

The panelists also answered students’ questions and offered their perspectives about how the workplace operates. They addressed how the pandemic affected current jobs as society adapts to a “new normal.”
Montclair State encourages students to explore their interests and passions as an extension of their academic program. Career Day gave students a dynamic and tangible experience to facilitate connections between their academic pursuits and professional endeavors in the future and, in the process, better understand what lies ahead.

If you missed the event, here’s a quick recap video of helpful tips from our guest speakers.
