What’s New this Fall

We’re looking forward to the start of the fall 2019 semester! Check out what’s new on campus this fall in parking, technology and facilities:


Navigate is a new online tool which will make scheduling appointments with your advisor so much easier!

Navigate will help connect you to your Success Team, access their calendars and schedule appointments without any back and forth messaging! You will also be able to view your personalized class schedule and sync any appointments with your phone’s calendar.

Stay tuned for more information about Navigate and how to access the platform early this fall semester!

Academic Opportunities

Every year the University expands and creates new majors, minors, courses, 4+1 programs and certificates. Learn what’s new this fall! View Academic Opportunities.

EV Charging Stations

A reminder, the University now has two locations on campus with Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. They are located:

  • Red Hawk Deck, 1st Floor
  • CarParc Diem, 3rd Floor

University Facilities has been working on many updates and improvements on over summer. Here’s a few:

  • Richardson Hall, 2nd Floor
  • Student Recreation Center front doors
  • University Hall exterior upgrade, phase 1

Tobacco-Free Update

Reminder: Montclair State University will be 100% tobacco-free by September 2020. Learn where designated campus smoking areas will be located as of Sunday, September 1, 2019. View Details.

Preferred Name

Last spring, President Cole announced the University’s Preferred Name Policy. While the policy takes full effect on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, the University is able to accept requests for students who have a preferred name. Preferred names are defined by the University as a name different than an individual’s legal name that the individual selects and the University approves for use within the University environment. Route 46 Circle

The construction on Route 46 (by the Route 3 intersection) continues. Recently completed is a traffic circle at the Clove Road/Route 46 intersection. (See image below).

Sprague Library

Sprague Library always has so much to offer and this fall is no exception! Check it out:

  • Museums On Us!
    Coming in September — Sprague Library has museum passes available for our students, faculty and staff to enjoy. Check Out the List of Museums.
  • Take a Break at the Library
    We are excited to offer new puzzles, games and wellness activities to help you de-stress. Follow us on HawkSync and on Instagram for details.
  • New Academic Workshops
    Sprague Library is partnering with the ADP Center to bring you more hands on workshops. Register for Workshops!.
  • University Authors on Reserve
    Recent publications by University faculty and staff may now be borrowed from the Access Services Desk. View the Growing List of Publications.


Did you know we had Zipcars on campus to rent? Parking Services is now offering three Zipcars at two locations on-campus:

  • Student Recreation Center: Two (2) cars
  • Lot 4: One (1) car
