Extended Spring Break – What’s Open?

The University is open! All administrative and academic offices are open on a normal schedule. The residence halls are open and students can return at any time.

Timeline

Because the University has extended our 2020 spring break, here is a timeline for classes, campus services and venues:

Classes: All classes will resume on Monday, March 23. Addendum – March 17, 2020: All courses will move online. Students can expect to have their entire course schedule delivered online for the rest of the semester.

Residence Halls: All residence halls are open. Students can return to their residence halls at any time.

Campus Events: All student-run campus events are canceled through Tuesday, March 31, 2020. View information at Student Information – Events.

Campus Services & Venues: Some venues and campus services are on a modified schedule through Sunday, March 22, returning to their normal schedule on Monday, March 23. Modified schedules include:

Dining

Sunday, March 15

  • Sam’s Place: 4:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Red Hawk Diner: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Monday, March 16 – Wednesday, March 18

  • Sam’s Place: 7-9 a.m. (Breakfast); 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Lunch); 4:30 -6:30 p.m. (Dinner)
  • Au Bon Pain at Café Diem: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Student Center, Outtakes C-Store: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Red Hawk Diner: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20

  • Sam’s Place:  Breakfast – 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., Lunch – 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Dinner – 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Student Center Cstore – 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

As of Monday, March 30 (until further notice moving forward)

  • Sam’s Place:  Breakfast/Lunch – 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Dinner – 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Student Center Cafe: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

*Grill Nation, Panda Express, So Deli Sandwiches (served out of California Tortilla counter), Grab & Go: prepackaged salads, bagels, snacks, candy, bottled beverages, etc, and Green Mountain Coffee.

The Red Hawk Diner will close Saturday and Sunday, March 21 & 22, then reopen for service Monday – Friday, March 23 –  27.   The 27th will be the last day of service for the Red Hawk Diner until further notice.

All will have take-out options; no self-serve will be available per our new health protocols.  All meals will be served in recyclable containers.  Signs will be posted throughout the seating area, reminding customers to adhere to CDC and local Health Department advice of social distancing.

Unless otherwise listed (above), all other campus dining locations are CLOSED. Of course, this plan is subject to change if we notice an increase in customer use.  We would then consider opening other venues and/or the overall mix of venues to satisfy customer needs.

Drop In Center
  • Friday, March 13, Saturday, March 14 & Sunday, March 15: Closed
  • Monday, March 16 – Thursday, March 19: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Friday, March 20 – Sunday, March 22: Closed
  • Monday, March 23: Resume normal schedule.
Information Technology

The IT Service Desk and Canvas Support, located on the 5th floor of University Hall, will have the following schedule:

  • Saturday, March 14 & Sunday, March 15: 12-5 p.m.
  • Monday, March 16 – Friday, March 20: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 21 & Sunday, March 22: 12-5 p.m. (For Canvas support Sunday, March 22, 5 p.m. – Midnight, call 973-655-7971, option 3)
  • Monday, March 23: Resume a normal schedule

Please Note: The UN Laptop Lending Cart and Information Commons Lab, located on the 5th floor of University Hall, is currently closed.

Parking

Students: Weekend Parking Regulations Apply.

  • Please Note: Weekend parking regulations do not apply to Lot 19.
  • Weekend Parking Regulations will be in effect from through Sunday, March 23, for commuter and resident students with permits issued by Montclair State University. Please review the Parking Regulations web page for detailed information.

Faculty/Staff: All Parking Regulations Remain The Same

  • Faculty and staff permits, both full-time and part-time, will continue to be used as mentioned in the regulations with no changes.

Red Hawk Pantry

The Red Hawk Pantry will be open Thursday, March 19, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

 

Shuttle Bus Service

During Spring Break Week, Shuttle Services will operate Route A (All Campus) according to the following schedule:

  • Saturday, March 14 – Sunday, March 15: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (No Saturday Shopper Shuttle/Bay Street Shuttle Service)
  • Monday, March 16 – Friday, March 20: 6 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. (PWD Service will be available)
  • Saturday, March 21: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (No Saturday Shopper Shuttle/Bay Street Shuttle Service)
  • Sunday, March 22: Resume normal schedule.
Sprague Library
  • Sunday, March 15: 12-9 p.m.
  • Monday, March 16 – Thursday, March 19: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Friday, March 20: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
