In order to provide better financial support for our Montclair State University graduate student population, the definitions of “full-time” and “half-time” status for graduate students have been updated.

Starting fall 2020, Montclair State graduate students enrolled in six (6) credits will now be considered full-time students for financial aid purposes. Similarly, students enrolled in three (3) credits of study will now be considered half-time.

What Does This Mean?

Graduate students enrolled in at least three (3) credits in the fall 2020 semester are now considered eligible to receive Federal Title IV aid.

What Federal Aid Is Available?

Graduate students can now apply for a federal student loan with lower interest rates and no credit check required.

What Are My Next Steps?

If you have yet to do so, please complete the FAFSA form for the fall 2020 semester as soon as possible. To learn more about Federal Title IV programs, please visit our Student Handbook for Financial Aid.
