Dear Students,

I am excited to welcome you back for the fall semester. We have been working hard over the summer to ready the campus for your return and to give you an experience that will be meaningful.

Last night, Governor Murphy signed Executive Order 175, which allows universities to offer in-person classes. Montclair State will offer many classes online, some classes in person, and others in a hybrid format that combines both online and on campus instruction. The format listed for each course on your schedule in NEST indicates how the course will be delivered. To learn more about each of the formats (also called “modalities”), please visit the Course Instruction Fall 2020 web page.

Your instructors will share specific details about each course, so please pay close attention to your montclair.edu email and to Canvas.

The State is also allowing campuses to offer indoor dining and in-person recreational activities, and to reopen libraries and computer labs.

We intend for clubs and organizations to hold events and meetings as long as they are in keeping with the safety guidelines established by the State. We will also be able to offer many recreational activities in person. Watch for more details to come soon.

As we reopen more fully and welcome students back to campus this fall, we will do so as safely as possible. All of us need to do the things that will help keep ourselves and other people safe. Please complete the online training, which explains what we expect from each student.

For more information about our restart plans, please visit the Red Hawk Restart website or send email to reopen@montclair.edu.

Sincerely,

Dr. Karen L. Pennington
