Happy Thanksgiving

A Message from President Cole.

Dear Students,

Throughout this year and all of its many challenges and uncertainties, you have worked hard at your studies, followed all those annoying but very important and necessary health protocols, and helped keep our campus safe. You have been patient and understanding when things shifted and new rules were put in place in response to changing conditions.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I wanted to tell you how thankful I am for the students of Montclair State. You are smart and determined, and you support each other. This year, I am also particularly thankful for the science and the scientists who will bring us the vaccine that will enable us to return, by summer I hope if not before, to a world and a University where we can be back to normal. And this year, I am also thankful for our own Montclair State scientists, both faculty and students, who are pursuing the research and the studies that will enable them to be there to provide the vaccines that will be needed for next generations.

Yes, this was a tough semester; the pandemic caused everybody to have some disappointments.  But we are making it through, doing the best we can, and there are many reasons to believe that spring will be better. As you head into the end of the term and the remaining work in your courses, please remember that there are many resources to help you succeed. Reach out to your professors, to the advising centers in your College or School, and to the tutors at the Academic Success Center.  Ask for the help that you need.

And please have a safe and sensible Thanksgiving. Stay on campus or stay home, and do all the things you know you need to do so that you don’t get the virus and so that you don’t pass on the virus to someone else. Celebrate this holiday with thanks for what you have; celebrate this holiday by giving careful attention to keeping yourself and others safe.

I send you my best wishes.

Sincerely,
President Cole
