{"id":468,"date":"2026-04-13T12:47:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T16:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/sustainability\/?p=468"},"modified":"2026-04-13T12:47:56","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T16:47:56","slug":"quick-pickle-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/sustainability\/2026\/04\/13\/quick-pickle-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"Quick Pickle Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you saw us at Pickle Palooza and liked what you tried, here&#8217;s how you can make your own quick pickled veggies:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 pound vegetables, sliced into pieces according to the size of your jars<\/li>\n<li>2 garlic cloves, halved<\/li>\n<li>1 cup distilled white vinegar<\/li>\n<li>1 cup water<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoons cane sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoon sea salt<\/li>\n<li>1-3 sprigs of fresh dill or 1 Tablespoon of dried dill (optional)<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon black peppercorns or chili flakes (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Divide the vegetables between 2 (16-ounce) jars or 3 (10-ounce) jars. Divide the garlic, pepper, and dill among the jars.<\/li>\n<li>Place the vinegar, water, sugar, and salt in the saucepan and heat over medium heat. Stir until the sugar and salt dissolve, about 1 minute. You may taste your brine to your liking. Salt and sugar can be adjusted to your liking. Once boiling, pour liquid over the vegetables.<\/li>\n<li>Set aside to cool to room temperature, then cover and store in the fridge.
