{"id":206140,"date":"2018-05-11T11:38:04","date_gmt":"2018-05-11T15:38:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/theatre-and-dance\/?page_id=206140"},"modified":"2026-03-25T15:21:51","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T19:21:51","slug":"admission-ba-theatre-studies","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/theatre-and-dance\/admission\/admission-ba-theatre-studies\/","title":{"rendered":"Admission to BA Theatre Studies"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Major-specific Guidelines<\/h2>\n<p>To be considered for admission to the BA Theatre Studies program, prospective students must first submit an\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/admissions\/learn-more\/apply\/\">online application<\/a><\/span>\u00a0to Montclair State University\u2019s Office of Admissions.\u00a0 Applicants should be in good academic standing as an incoming freshman or transfer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Information Sessions<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>Prospective students who are interested in the BA Theatre Studies program are strongly encouraged to attend an information session in addition to submission of a university application.\u00a0 These sessions will provide specific details about program curriculum and will offer guidelines as to the career potential of a Theatre Studies degree.<\/p>\n<p>Break-out information sessions will occur as part of larger campus-wide events on the following dates:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Theatre Days:\u00a0 October 29, 2021 and April 29, 2022<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Theatre Day introduces college-bound students to Montclair State University\u2019s Department of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/arts\/theatre-and-dance\/\" title=\"Home%20%BB%20Montclair%20State%20%BB%20College%20of%20the%20Arts%20%BB%20Theatre%20and%20Dance\">Theatre and Dance<\/a>.\u00a0 The event features participatory workshops such as Acting, Musical Theatre, Stage Combat, and Technical Theatre Production, conducted by the University\u2019s theatre faculty. \u00a0Students hear a College of the Arts overview; learn about careers and auditioning; and see a production of our students\u2019 work.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/arts\/community-programs\/campus-visits-for-prospective-students\/theatre-days\/\">Register for Theatre Days &#8211;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">University Open House, information sessions and campus tours:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undergraduate open houses: \u00a0<span style=\"color: #333333\"><b>October 10 &amp; November 7<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Graduate open houses: <strong>October 24 (virtually) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/oh\/?utm_source=graduate&amp;amp;utm_medium=we_search&amp;amp;utm_campaign=tgsopenhouse&amp;amp;utm_content=register_button\">Click Here to Register<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/\">Register for Graduate Open House<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Montclair State University Open houses are a great way to gain an overview of the University and learn about the programs in the College of the Arts.\u00a0 Open Houses feature information sessions on the university \u2013 including a campus tour and student-services fair;
