Montclair State University\u2019s Division of Dance<\/strong> was selected–for the second year in a row–as one of the top dance programs in the country. This honor was first bestowed by OnStage Blog in August 2018 and again in March 2019 by DanceUS.org.<\/p>\n

US Dance.org deemed Montclair State University\u2019s BFA in Dance as one of the best in the nation for 2019-2020 and the University was the only dance college program from NJ to be so designated.

In recent years, accolades have been more and more plentiful–a testament to the program\u2019s growing artistic rigor.\u00a0

Last year, one of Montclair State’s dances was selected to represent the Northeast Region of the American College Dance Association (ACDA)<\/em> at the National ACDA Festival<\/em>.\n

Montclair State University Director of Dance Lori Katterhenry<\/em> tells us of the experience, \u201cJoanie Smith and Danial Shapiro\u2019s To Have and To Hold<\/em> was performed by six Montclair State dance majors at the Kennedy Center in May 2018.\u00a0 At the conclusion of the three-day festival in Washington, D.C. our students were honored with the Outstanding Performance Award<\/em>\u00a0by Dance Magazine<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

“We have been selected for the National ACDA many times, but this is the first time we have received this particular honor.\u00a0 It was wonderful to have our program recognized on such a public platform.\u201d<\/p><\/div>

\"ACDA<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/p><\/div>Montclair State University dance majors have gone into a variety of professional areas such as performance, teaching, dance advocacy, and dance and technology.\u00a0 Graduates have performed in the dance companies of Nikolais\/Louis, Pilobolus, Jose Limon, Paul Taylor 2, Martha Graham 2, Philadanco, Nimbus, Roxey Ballet, Shapiro and Smith, Sean Curran, Pascal Rioult, Urban Bush Women, Pearson\/ Widrig); they have gone on to Broadway and off-Broadway (CATS, Newsies, Hamilton, Aladdin, Sleep No More ); and many are teaching in the public and private sector and in the university.<\/p>\nLearn more about the Dance program at Montclair State<\/a><\/span>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
