{"id":206982,"date":"2019-11-15T15:03:55","date_gmt":"2019-11-15T20:03:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/theatre-and-dance\/?p=206982"},"modified":"2019-12-02T11:11:27","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T16:11:27","slug":"musical-theatre-students-celebrate-broadway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/theatre-and-dance\/2019\/11\/15\/musical-theatre-students-celebrate-broadway\/","title":{"rendered":"Musical Theatre Students Celebrate Broadway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In celebration of their 25<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary, <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/broadwayinspirationalvoices.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Broadway Inspirational Voices<\/a> invited Montclair State\u2019s Musical Theatre program to perform one of the gospel organization\u2019s original arrangements in a video-taped performance. Montclair State joined other illustrious Musical Theatre programs in this invitation-only celebration, which includes Carnegie Mellon University, Syracuse University, University of Michigan, New York University, as well as schools in the UK, Australia, and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/montclair.edu\/theatre-and-dance\">Department of Theatre and Dance<\/a>, the\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cali\" target=\"_blank\">Cali School of Music<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/scm\" target=\"_blank\">School of Communication and Media<\/a>\u00a0all collaborated for this very special multi-disciplinary event.<\/p>\n<p>An ensemble of eighteen musical theatre majors performed \u201cYou Will Be Found\u201d from the musical <em>Dear Evan Hansen<\/em>, under the musical direction of Greg Dlugas. The Founding Artistic Director of the Broadway Inspirational Voices, Tony Award winner Michael McElroy, came out to campus and joined the ensemble for an exciting rehearsal prior to taping.<\/p>\n<p>The ensemble\u2019s performance was filmed in the Presentation Hall by a team from the School of Communication and Media, and the final culmination of this magnificent collaboration will be viewed by thousands on the Broadway Inspirational Voices\u2019 website as part of their <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCjRJf6z8cqvmBXmRXiLTU9g\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cBroadway Our Way\u201d series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the event&#8217;s success, everyone involved is hoping this is the start of a tradition.
