Dear Members of the Montclair State University Community:

Earlier today, Governor Phil Murphy announced that New Jersey is taking additional actions in response to the coronavirus. Despite published reports, the executive order does not require Montclair State and other universities to close. The actions taken by the University to this point are consistent with the Governor’s order. The executive order requires institutions to shift instruction online, with very limited and few exceptions.

The residence halls are not closing. All students are welcome to stay or to check out. Starting tomorrow, the Office of Residence Life will contact all resident students to provide information about their options.

In the meantime, please know that the University will remain open, instruction for all students will resume online Monday, March 23, and we will continue to implement strategies to reduce the risk to our campus community. Thank you for your patience as we respond together to this challenging public health emergency.

As always, please visit the University’s Coronavirus website for the most up-to-date information and direct your questions to coronavirus@montclair.edu

Sincerely,

Susan A. Cole
President
