Health Update

Here is the weekly report of confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the Montclair State University campus for the week ending Thursday, September 3:

A student living on campus tested positive on Friday, August 29. The individual was last on campus on Wednesday, August 22 and will not be permitted to return until fully recovered and cleared by a medical professional. The student had one close contact, who has been notified and is completing a 14-day quarantine. The infected individual is doing well, and the close contact is not showing any symptoms.

This case brings to three the total number of confirmed cases on campus since the start of the fall semester (two students, one employee).

University Health Center Director Patricia Ruiz recommends that all members of the campus community continue to follow the general safeguards to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, including wearing face coverings, observing social distancing, practicing good hand hygiene and completing the daily Hawk Check self-screening application before coming to the campus.
