About Our Faculty

A first year writing instructor conducts class using a textbook.

The Writing Studies faculty are a diverse group of writers, educators, professionals, and artists who are committed to the teaching of writing and critical thinking to the students of Montclair State University. Whether in the First-Year Writing Program or in the Public and Professional Writing major/minor, Writing Studies faculty come with joint enthusiasm for the intellectual work of academic writing and for getting to know our students. We recognize the importance that writing plays in the academic, personal, and professional lives of our students as we are writers ourselves, and we write daily, for many different reasons. We write to share our research and ideas, to communicate our passions and complaints, and even simply to figure out what it is that we think. We are dedicated to expertise in writing and pedagogy and, above all, in our commitment to our students and their learning.
