Still on a sugar rush from Halloween, 30 Red Hawk swimmers competed at the Autumn Cup Meet held Sunday, November 1st at the Clifton Boys & Girls Club. Congrats to all our swimmers!

A special shout-out to our FIRST TIMERS: Katie Caprio, Christina Caruso, Dinh Dinh-Do, Claire Eckles, Carly Fazendio, Allyson Heath, Jennifer Kostroski, Haley Monk, Kathryn Nguyen, Elena Odulak, Renee Rivera, Amelia Schwegler, Zoe Weigele, Sofia Zimmerman, Kenny Coplan and Aaron Segal.

The coaches were thrilled to see so many of you enjoyed your first meet and walked away with smiles :) on your faces. Despite any first time jitters, you all raced so fast and strong!

We are so proud and excited to welcome you to competitive swimming and can't wait to see you all in your next meet!

We also had many exciting (and in some cases MEDAL-WINNING!) performances. Our personal bests include:

Andrew Belen who swam in the 100 IM, 50 Fly and 50 Back, in which he dropped 7.28 seconds for a personal best of 42.25.

Jenn Braun who mproved another 2 1/2 seconds in her 200 IM from just last week to earn a 6th place ribbon with a 2:52.12.

Doria Brown who also took home a ribbon for 6th place overall in her 100 Back (1:22.10). Cutting an equally impressive 1.13 off her 50 Free, Doria recorded a 32.07.

Michael Dellanno who had a SPECTACULAR meet, earning personal bests in all three of his races: the 100 IM (1:35.63), 50 Fly (43.87) and 100 Free (1:30.54).

Amanda Forlenza who earned a 7th place ribbon for her 200 IM, clocking in at 3:02.06.

Nick Gutierrez who bravely swam the first 100 IM of his swimming career and also swam his way to a personal best in his 50 Breast (50.05).

Henry Hawkins who swam to two personal bests by nearly 4 and 5 seconds (!) in the 50 Free (41.46) and the 50 Back (50.46).

Candace Mapp who sprinted her way to bests in the 50 Free (35.48) and the 50 Back (42.58).

Brendan Sweigart who swam to 10th place finishes in both his 100 Free (1:11.10) and 50 Back (41.57).

Rosemary Sweigart who raced to a 1st PLACE MEDAL in her 100 Breast with a time of 1:18.94, which is not actually her best time in that race.

Nick Van Leer who made a drop in time even more remarkable than last meet! Nick finished the 100 Back in 1:12.79, just over 7 seconds faster than his previous best. Plus, Nick is down to a 27.93 in the 50 Free.

Great job to all our swimmers!
Keep working hard in practice!

TOUGH WORKOUT?
Hey Red Hawk swimmers - think our workouts are tough? Check out these killer sets posted on Swim Network. Click here to be linked.

A SPECIAL THANKS
A BIG thank you to all those parents who ALSO took part in the Autumn Cup Meet on 11/1. So many of you stepped forward to assist when our team was called for timing assignments. This lightened everyone's load...most importantly the coaching staff. We greatly appreciate your cooperation and support!

MEET SCHEDULE
A REVISED list of meets and dates was added to the MEET SCHEDULE page. Meets are listed through the end of the 2009-2010 season. Click here to view.

At this time all meets have been entered through December and are closed to further entries.

DRYLAND TRAINING
While not mandatory, swimmers in all areas of the Competitive Program (6:30-8:00 p.m.) are encouraged to complete a short list of dryland exercises and stretches BEFORE practice begins at 6:30 p.m. Dryland activities will be modified each week and stress the importance of exercising out of the pool to help improve strength, stamina and endurance in the pool.

A list of updated exercises will be posted each week on the website for swimmers (and parents!) who also wish to complete them at home.

We encourage all Red Hawk swimmers to bring their cameras along to meets so that we can fill our PHOTO GALLERY area with fun candids and exciting shots from our weekends away from Panzer Pool.

NOVEMBER CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Who's your best training buddy? Got caught by the coaches playing a game of cards at a swim meet - who are the teammates you'd be seen biding time between races with? Sharing your headphones to listen to a favorite song at a meet - who's the somebody you're jamming with? Share your photos!
