2027 College Rankings: Montclair Among Nation’s Best in U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges

Montclair State University has been ranked among the best national universities in the country in the U.S. News & World Report 2027 Best Colleges rankings.

Montclair has improved in several categories in this closely watched list of the best institutions in America. The University is once again recognized as a national leader in social mobility - a measure of how well schools enroll and graduate economically disadvantaged students and bring them closer to achieving the American Dream - ranking No. 13 in the country among 427 national universities.

U.S News & World Report 2027 Best Colleges Rankings at a Glance

• No. 79 among national public institutions (up 5 spots from No. 84 in 2026) 
• No. 166 in Best Value Schools (up 11 spots from No. 177 in 2026) 
• No. 156 overall among national universities (up 2 spots from No. 158 in 2026) 
• No. 276 among undergraduate Computer Science programs (up 18 spots from No. 294 in 2026)
