Rocky Hits the Road to Welcome Accepted Students

Rocky the Red Hawk, Montclair State University’s mascot, accompanied undergraduate admissions representatives last spring to personally congratulate newly accepted students at 11 high schools across New Jersey.

University Admissions’ new “Rocky on the Road” program aims to bring levity to the often-stressful process of college admissions and to expand Montclair State’s outreach to schools and prospective students statewide. Rocky and the admissions team met with almost 200 students, 40 percent of whom had committed to Montclair State.

“This is such a unique opportunity for our staff to spread the excitement, passion and commitment of the Montclair State experience to places all around the state,” says Lisa Kasper, director of undergraduate admissions.

“It’s a fun and engaging way to bring a bit of our campus to prospective students,” Kasper says.
