Peak Performances at Montclair State University in collaboration with the Montclair State University Department of Philosophy and Religion presents a public discussion with renegade philosopher Daniel C. Dennett.  Learn more about the fascinating ideas that inspired Scott Johnson’s Mind Out of Matter (which premieres at Peak Performances this fall) when Dennett, author of Breaking the Spell, Consciousness Explained, and Darwin's Dangerous Idea, visits campus to speak about how Darwin's insights sketch the path from a purposeless world of cause and effect—but no function, no reasons—to the purposeful, reason-drenched world we inhabit today.  Dennett's voice is featured in Johnson's world premiere composition, Mind Out of Matter, performed by critically acclaimed new music ensemble Alarm Will Sound, conducted by Alan Pierson, at the Alexander Kasser Theater October 4 - 5, 2014.
