    A Night to RememberAlumni and friends gathered October 28, 2022, for the first-ever Black Alumni Advisory Council (BAAC) Gala to reconnect with classmates, rediscover their alma mater and pay it forward to students. They honored former Associate Dean of Students and University Ombudsman James Harris ’68, ’70 MA, recognized BAAC Rising Star Medinah Muhammed ’16 and celebrated the legacy of Sam Mills ’81. Proceeds raised from the gala supported the Emergency, EOF and James Harris book funds. Wednesday November 23, 2022

    Championing the ChildrenWhen Erica Fischer-Kaslander ’13 MA began as the first executive director of Passaic County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the organization was little more than a dream and a borrowed office cubicle. In the 15 years since, Passaic County CASA has advocated for more than 1,000 children and trained hundreds of volunteers to serve as champions for abused and neglected children.Tuesday November 22, 2022

Assistant Provost Daniel Jean ’00 MA

Daniel “Danny” Jean ’00 is passionate about making first-generation students’ dreams come true. Jean became Assistant Provost for Special Programs, EOF and Academic Success in July 2020. In the newly created role, Jean oversees the Future College Graduate Academy, which provides a unified enrollment and graduation strategy for highly motivated, low-income, first-generation cohorts. A signature program, it is a grant-funded partnership with the Newark Board of Education to enroll 300 of the city’s high school juniors and seniors in Montclair State University courses to improve college preparedness and empower the whole family to foster a college-going culture.
